Choosing Notes: Creativity, Ear Training & Literacy for All Musicians
Choosing Notes: Creativity, Ear Training & Literacy for All Musicians (Kindle Edition)
By Michael J. Murphy

Review & Description

Are you stuck in a musical rut? Do you have gaps in your understanding of general music theory? Do you want to read a book that can inspire you to look at things in a new way? Do you need to work on your ability to improvise, compose or play by ear? This book examines three essential elements of music: literacy, creativity, ear training. These areas contain everything you need to be a successful musician: reading, writing, performing, transcribing, structure, memory, technique, composition, improvisation, listening skills, chords, scales, modes and intervals. This is not a traditional music theory book. It assumes an underlying knowledge of music theory and takes things from there as a way to further inform and inspire the advancing musician. Whether you play rock, classical or jazz on piano, guitar, strings, brass, or woodwinds, this book will help take you to the next level of musical appreciation and understanding.
